"Bixi" is coming to Montreal

Montreal is currently rolling out a set of 300 (!) parking stations for bikes that will be equipped with 3000 new bikes, in an effort to provide an alternative means of transportation through the city.
Membership is really inexpensive: For 78 dollars you can use any bike during the entire season (up until November), for up to 30 minutes per ride. (After 30 minutes, additional fees apply.) I am curious how this works out. I think the idea is excellent but we will have to see how well it works in practice.
